Learn to Skate

Get fit and stay healthy! The Summit Ice Arena offers Learn to Skate classes for all ages and skill levels. Our programs include Learn to Skate for figure skating as well as Learn to Skate for hockey skating. All Learn to Skate classes follow the guidelines of The Ice Skating Institute. Instructors are certified and trained according to National standards.

Our Classes Include:

Parent/Tot: (Ages 3 or older)
This class offers a gentle introduction to the ice using games and songs.

Tots: (Beginners Ages 4 to 5)
Toys and games are used in this class to encourage the enjoyment of the learning experience.

Advanced Tot: (Prerequisite Tots)
This class begins to work on advanced levels of forward skating, stopping, and backward skating skills for the very young but advanced tot.

Pre Alpha: (Beginners Ages 6 & up)
This class is the basic entry level for learn to skate lessons.

Adv. Pre Alpha: (Prerequisite Pre Alpha)
Advanced forward skating skills and stopping.

Alpha: (Prerequisite Adv. Pre Alpha)
Forward stroking, crossovers, and introduction to backward crossovers.

Beta: (Prerequisite Alpha)
Backward crossovers, backward stroking, transitions and t-stops.

Teen/Adult: (Ages 13 & up)
Contact The Skate School office for a personal instruction schedule. Lesson packages include (8) 30 minute instruction sessions and (8) 30 minute practice sessions.

Figure Skating: Our advanced figure skating programs bridges to competitive figure skating through private lessons. Freestyle contract ice, synchronized skating teams and competition teams. For class schedules and program offerings please contract The Skate School office at (517) 322-2330.
